Cranberry Salad

So this one was an experiment.  I wanted to do something different.  My first marriage, when we went to his family’s for holidays, someone there always made a cranberry salad and I loved it. I don’t know the exact recipe so I just found another one.  Scott and I loved it, but the kids wouldn’t touch it.  Not a big deal.  We’ll make it again.  I still changed a little.  I never add nuts to things, but I left them on here.

Ingredients

1/2 lb. cranberries

1 c. sugar

2 apples, peeled

2 pkgs strawberry gelatin or one big pkg

1 orange, peeled

2 c. water

1 c. chopped celery

1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

Dissolve gelatin in hot water.  Chill until partially set.  Put cranberries, apples, and orange through food chopper.  Combine with sugar.  Add cranberry mixture, celery, and nuts to partially set gelatin.  Chill until firm.  Very pretty in a clear glass bowl.
