Brobee Cake

4 years ago today, a small miracle came into our lives.  Since then, we’ve had more ups than downs, though I have to admit, he’s been more than just a bit of a handful.  This year,  he wanted a Brobee cake.  Brobee is a funny looking green character from Yo Gabba Gabba.  So, Scott and I got busy looking at ideas online and then took off on the Brobee adventure.

It’s actually two cakes, the body being one – a yellow cake with food coloring to make it green – and the other making the arms, legs, and horns.  We did that part in chocolate.  Scott cut the pieces and put the body together.  Elaina and I did the decorating.  I think it turned out rather well.

Happy Birthday, Donovan.  You are loved more than you know.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing the pictures. My boyfriend and I are planning to make a Brobee cake for our son who will be turning 2. We have been doing research but a lot of the ones that I’ve seen that are step by step are made w/coconut and that’s just not our thing. Question for you though how did you do the eyes? Also did you use black frosting for the outline and the eye brows or something else. Any help would be appriciated! Thanks!!

Man, I hope you’re still waiting for a reply. I just don’t use this site any more and my moderation comments don’t come through. We just used white frosting and wet a spoon to tamp it down. Then we put the black frosting on top. It worked out really well.

This year, he’ll probably want an Angry Birds cake. Should be interesting.
